The old Catholic church which has stood on the same spot in Clarks Hill for the past 55 years is now a matter of history as the building was wrecked Tuesday and hauled away. It had served as a chapel forthe Catholics of this community since 18H7. having been abandoned a few years ago.There has been considerable contention^ over the removal of the building. Last year the lots on which the building stood were sold to the Clarks Hill Community Association and the building was bought by J. C. Yount. It was understood that Mr. Yount was to remove the building within a reasonable length of time, but for some reason lie failedto do so. The trustees of the Com-%mu nit y Association state that notice was given Mr. Yount to remove the building within a specified time nut this he failed to^Io stating thnt he had no means with which to move it. He also refused to accept the purchase price of the buildingwhich was offered him by the Community Association. As a result the building was wrecked Tuesday and just what the outcome will be Is yet to be learned. -Clarks Hill News.
