- ■ — . • + s I •--——.A Nt onndrfl'N Ide*.Hoar how the lying editor of the •Washington Republic speaks of the Wilkinson county matter. Eveiy week his sheet is tilled with slanders on the Southern people. He now pretends that the Wilkinson county disturbance was a Democratic assassination of Ke-publicau negroes, when he had the letter of Sheriff Noble stating that politics had nothing to do with the matter. The editor of the Republic is the biggest liar of the age. He says:Again the country is shocked by the same old story- twenty colored men killed by a Sheriff’s posse, ami no white man hurt. The Associated Press dispatch calls it a “war.” It should be called by its right name, an inhuman butchery of defenseless men by the white savages of the South. Democracy thrives on murder; its majorities in the South are based upon it, and present indications make it apparent that the process of securing a full Democratic vote in the fall elections has begun. It will call for the murder of a few hundred colored men, but this, among the chivalric Democrats of the South, is a commendable virtue.
