VENETIAN SERENADERS SCORE IN CONCERT BEFORE SARASOTA AUDIENCE EDWARDS THEATRESarasota music lovers were given e taste of the daily treat which guests of the new Hotel Venice enjoy when the Venetian Serenaders, Antonio Lopez’ splendid Hotel Venice orchestra gave a concert last night at the Edwards Theater. The versatile young Lopez *md his musicians have been entertaining at the Hotel Venice for several weeks, and in that short time have made a justly noted reputation. It is through the courtesy of Charles P. Kane, manager of the hotel here, that the Venetian Serenaders appeared at the Edwards.The Lopez concert was the first of several special events arranged by the Edwards for the remainder of the summer season.The Lopez concert last night at the Edwards featured ah* special arrangement of “The Indian Love Call,, from the musical comedy, “Rose Marie,” by Mr. Lopez. This was the first time that the Serenaders have performed the number in public. Mr. Lopez also rendered a piano solo. Alfonso Cid played a violin solo and the Serenaders entertained with popular selections and novelty fox-trots.Needless to say, the Hotel Venice orchestra found a warm spot and a hearty welcome from the large throng which packed the popular and beautiful Ed wards’ theatre.The dining court, to be situated out ordoors next to the dining salon, will be soconstructed that the mediaeval andmodern influences will mingle. A small octagonal fountain will add a bit of old world charm to the center. Citrus trees surround the court, and several are planted in it. Mr. French has arranged his plans so that the branches of the trees are high enough to provide walk ing clearance and tables can be se+ beneath the shade of one of Florida’s most beautiful and productive trees. Next winter, the waiter on being asked for an orange, could merely reach above the head of the guest, and pull one fresh from the tree.
