AGED PIONEERPASSED AWAY“Aunt” Katie Neal Wbo Died Last Mon day, Saw This Community Growfor Nearly a Century“Aunt” Katie Neal passed quietly away Monday, July 23. at her home twomiles southwest of town. She was nearing her ninety-second year, due to the fact that practically all her life, she had been in the best of health, although during the last few weeks of her life she was confined to bed, yet she suffered no acheg or pains.Mrs. Neal, whose maiden name was Catherine Phillippe, was born October 15, 1825, in Withe County, Virginia. When a mere child she came with her parents to Indiana, at the time when Indiana was still in its infancy.Her first marriage was to Austin Wampler. To this union were born three children, only one oi whom, Mrs. Rebecca Blackwell, is now living. After the death of Mr. Wampler, she was married August 10, 1859, to James Neal at Ashbury Chapel. To this union were born three children, Ephraim,Mary and John. Besides her owTn children, she had two step-children, Mrs. John House and Miss Louisa Neal.% She had been a Christian since early childhood. Her’s wore the days of the J a! Circuit Riders and their saddle bags, I 11 When Asbury Chape! was erected years r j | ago, she was one of the first members,not! ] r ’ only first in number but in active work. yA host of friends and relatives met last j j Wednesday at 10 a. in. at the family I home to do their last homage to the well j beloved woman. Rev R A Ragsdale' 1 officiated. The body was laid to rest in ’ the Neal family graveyard.Besides her children, Mrs. Rebecca;(( Blackwell, Ephraim and John Neal and j Mrs Mary Robinson, of Wheatland, and jc | step-children, Mrs. John House and Miss j j Louisa Neal, site leaves four brothers, i .3 iI Ephraim, John, David and George Phillippe and one sister, Mrs. Jack Boyd. ]She has twenty-twogrand-children and a jgoodly number of nieces and nephews, j _
