Cameron has declined to commute the sen-ence of the colored girl, Mary Booth, who was ^recently convicted in the County Court of Surry ot the murder by poison of Mrs. it. C. Gray and .Mr. T. F. Jones, and sentenced to be hanged on the 17thof November. AHer sentence was passed a petition was gotten uppraying the Governor to com* tnuto the sentence of death to imprisonment in the penitentiary, on account of theextreme youth of the accused—she being only about fourteen years of age. At tin* same time a counter petition w as gotten up praying the Governor to allow the law to take its course in the case, and the sentence of the Court to be executed.
