Cameron has declined to commute the sen-ence of the colored girl, Mary Booth, who was ^recently convicted in the County Court of Surry ot the murder by poison of Mrs. it. C. Gray and .Mr. T. F. AHer sentence was passed a petition was gotten uppraying the Governor to com* tnuto the sentence of death to imprisonment in the penitentiary, on account of theextreme youth of the accused—she being only about fourteen years of age. At tin* same time a counter petition w as gotten up praying the Governor to allow the law to take its course in the case, and the sentence of the Court to be executed.
