Richard D. Landis Richard D. Landis, 88, of Flora, died July 27, 2003, at Lafayette Home Hospi tal. Born July 25, 1915, in Flora, he was the son of Elias Edward and Kathryn D. DeMoss Landis. He was married on Nov. 23, 1938, in Medaryville to Charlene Bell, who died April 30, 1984. Mr. Landis was an engineer at E.I. Dupont from 1939 to 1942 and was self-employed at E.E. Landis Chrysler-Plymouth, Flora, from 1946 until his retirement in 1989. On Jan. 28, 1982, he was appointed by Joseph T. Ives, Carroll County Republican chairman, to serve as the Republican representative on the County Election Board. He officially retired from that position in February of this year. A US. Navy veteran of World War II, he served from May 3, 1943, to April 14, 1946. Mr. Landis was a 1933 graduate of Flora High School and a 1938 graduate of Purdue University. He was a member of the Flora United Methodist Church. A sister, Leonore L. Roederer of Lafayette, survives. A brother preceded him in death. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora, with Pastor Larry DeVos officiating. Memorials may be made to the Flora United Methodist Church. Baker Funeral Home, Flora, was in charge of arrangements. William E. Harper Services for William E. Harper, 61, of Battle Ground, were held Saturday at Baker Funeral Home, Flora. Burial was in Independence Cemetery, was found dead in his residence on July 23, 2003. Born Dec. 11, 1941, in Lafayette, he was the son of Everett L. and Olive Stetler Harper. Mr. Harper was a machinist at Advance Design in Clarks Hill. A 1959 graduate of Pine Village High School, he served in the National Guard. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are a son, Chad Harper of Flora; three sisters, Susie Owenby of Jacksonville, Fla., Evelyn Hutchison of Crawfordsville, and Helen Anderson of Idaho; and six grandchildren. A brother preceded him in death. From page 1 people were hurt during the recent flood by carrying too high a deductible and not high enough coverage for structure, and no coverage for contents. Some suffered near total losses. After the flood, we all (insurance agents) had people sitting in front of us crying, said Laughner. Oscar Bud Harber Oscar Bud Harber, 71, of Delphi, died July 25, 2003, at 10:12 a.m. at Indiana Veteran's Home in West Lafayette. He had been a resident for two and a half years. Born April 21, 1932, in Rosehill, Va., he was the son of John and Matilda Edwards Harber. He was a 1950 graduate of Rosehill High School, and was a corporal in the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Korean War. His marriage was to Artie Katherine Dobbs in Jonesville, Va., on May 21, 1992, and she survives. He worked for ALCOA in Lafayette for 20 years, retiring in 1980. Mr. Harber was a member of the Pittsburg Missionary Baptist Church, the ALCOA 25 Year Club, and was an avid fisherman. Also surviving are a son, Dale Harber of Camden; two daughters, Debbie Bower of Frankfort, and Darlene Eikenberry of Rossville; two stepsons, Earl Hillary and Kenny Hillary, both of Delphi; three sisters, Kathleen Morley and Kyla Harber, both of Tenn., and Frances Hefner of Rosehill, Va.; a brother Bill Harber of Rosehill, Va.; several grandchildren; and several great grandchildren He was preceded in death by a son, a stepson, and 10 brothers and sisters. Services were Monday at Pittsburg Missionary Baptist Church, with pastor John Wagner officiating. Burial with Delphi American Legion Military Rites was in the Indiana Veterans Home Cemetery in West Lafayette. Abbott Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Clarence H. Yoder Clarence H. Yoder, 91, of rural Rossville, died at 11:10 a.m. July 26, 2003, at Milner Community Health Care Center, Rossville. Born Sept. 9, 1911, near Rossville in Clinton County, he was the son of Cornelious and May Cottrell Yoder. He was married on Jan. 1, 1933, to Martha A. Flora, who died Aug. 25, 1985. A lifelong resident of the Rossville area, Mr. Yoder farmed all of his life. He was a member of the Middle Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Church. Surviving are a daughter, Gladys Miller of rural Rossville; two sons, Charles L. Yoder of Tuscon, Ariz., and Keith A. Yoder of Kirklin; a sister, Martha Overhalser of Parma, Mich.; 15 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. A brother, a sister and a great granddaughter preceded him in death. Services will be at,10 a.m. today, Wednesday, at the Middle Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Chuch with home brethren officiating.
