So he kept on the lookout lt for ChaiUe,who had not as yet come u and as soon as he saw him some ,f, distance from the house and beg-o ged him to go back; and while 11 talking with him, Morris and his d ; father, Paulite, rushed from the o | house ami begun firing, the first J load of sixteen buckshot striking |, Mr. Townsend in the stomach.Charlie then began firing at Morris1 and Paulite as they stood at the door, although he himself had been shot through and through. Every allot he made took effect. Morris was slightly wounded, Paulite shot in both arms. Mrs. Nephler, in trying to get the children out of the way, lecfeved a very dangerous and perhaps mortal wound. Mr. Alonzo Woods, running to her assistance, was shot through the thigh. Charlie, after emptying his pistol- ran over to Mr. Merritt’s house, followed by Paulite, who tried to force his way into the room, and throwing himself upon the bed was dead in live minutes.
