The Name of The Game Is Unitvj¥IF MY commentary of last week entitled Return to Black Law and Order’ gave the impression that such an effort was just around the corner, then I would like to take this opportunity to correct this assumption. The black community is still a long way from achieving law and order within its confines.HOWEVER. I will repeat that there are no definite signs that the call for such an effort is not going unheeded. Inspite of, and in addition to the continued formation of various groups and committees which may appear on the surface to dilute the efforts there is a strong move by those persons who heretofore sat behind shuttered and locked doors and tried simply to wish the enemy away. And I again repeat that black-on-black crime is the number one enemy of the black community. From a journalistic and objective view, there is every indication to believe that the pendulum of positive, conclusive effort by black people and for black people, is swinging in an ever-increasing return arc.I BELIEVE, along with thousands of other mature, responsible, Chicago-oriented black adults, that white Chicago and America is unwilling to seek solutions to the problem of black-on-black crime. At the risk of redundance I continue in my belief that black-on-black crime has been nurtured and encouraged by the white Chicagopopulace at large, and if there is anyone who honestly believes that black crime cannot be censored, then that person is living in a mental vacuum.WHITE CHICAGO has not been given any reason to see the wisdom of suppressing crime in all areas. Black people and particularly the young,have failed to recognize that the formation and perpetuation of black crime serves only to deplete our already meager generic resources.1 SUPPOSE that it would be kind to agree that major black crime got its start because of an intense desire for social and economic freedom. I suppose it would have been equally as kind to rationalize that poor schools, excessively crowded living conditions, and a highly unsatisfactory executive and judicial system is justification for the racial genecide which permeates our every existence Obviously, all of these are contributing factors exist and no final solution will be effected without the easing and correction of these sociological fetters.ON THE other hand, there are great numbers of people, both black and white, whose mental aberration prevents their functioning as responsible citizens. Other persons with the same aberration have capitalized on the weaknesses of those persons and used them as misguided pawns in a bizarre life game of chess which seeks to capture the entire black community. Even in the most utopian society, there are persons who would prey upon the weaknesses of others. Even in circumstances and conditions far worse than those which prevail today, blacks did not turn upon other blacks voluntarily. We are being systematically pragmatically used by a force thatcan onlv be counteracted bv a united black ac-»■ ♦turn, The problems of uniting the black community behind a single voice cries out for a solution.ANY QUALIFIED observer of social phenomena will agree that there is no plan of actionwhich will satisfy every element of the communi-• *ty Until we learn to subjugate the whims of a few to the w il!tMhe manv then we will continue to remain at the mercy of the black sociaiogieal carpet baggers and the white master-minders. Until we stop forming new groups every time we disagree with the method of a previously formed group, we continue a racial marking of time.RIGHT NOW. for example, there are more organizations than there are basic problems. There are few real honest-to-goodness dedicated leaders but the black community is being immeshed andensnared bv the oratorv of countless numbers of* ■»apolitical strategists who seek only to piroette in a caprecious lime light which is fed by the whitepress.IN AN effort to bring some kind of journalistic and rhetorical order to the black community, within the next few weeks the Chicago Black Press has dedicated itself to the searching out and the publishing of that information which is true, relevant, and necessary for the needed turnabout in the black community.THE WHITE press, in its ignorance of black morays has time and again, labeled and mislabeled persons and organizations to the detriment of the black community. The Chicago Black Press will deal firmly, effectively, and honestly with all those persons and organizations which court the mantle of leadership.READ YOUR BLACK PRESS.
