The annual Reunion of Veterans and Old Settlers, to be held in Nocona August 11, 12 and 13, is sponsored by the Nocona American Legion and an elaborate coronation of a Queen to reign over the re union will be under the auspices of the American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. A. A. Stipling has been chosen by the Auxiliary to plan and direct the ceremonies atendant upon the coronation of the Queen. Plans have been made wherein “King Victory,” sponsored by the Ameri can Legion will crown “Liberty” as his Queen to reign over the Reunion of Veterans and Old Settlers for the three days with all the carnival features attendant upon such a period of festivities. At a spectacular beauty contest on Monday evening, August 8, at the Veterans Memorial Building, the Queen will be chosen from a bevy of beautiful girls sponsored on various business firms, organiza tions and surrounding towns and communities. Every business firm in Nocona is urged to enter a contestant. The American Legion Auxiliary hopes to contact each firm and organization, but it is urged that they do not wait. Choose your representative and notify Mrs. Floyd Garner. The admission to the beauty con test will be free. After the contest there will be entertainment for all. All contestants for the beauty crown will automatically be named duchesses in the coronation of her Royal Highness. The Coronation ceremonies will take place as a free, open air at traction at the Reunion Grounds, on Wednesday evening, August 10. More than 100 costumed actors will take part in the moving pageant attendant upon the Coronation, Beauty Contest Open To All Beautiful girls are always a major attraction so be sure to make it a date to see them march in review at the Veterans Memorial Building at 8:30 p.m. August 8. Out of town judges will choose the beauty who will reign over the Reunion of Veterans and Old Settlers. All beauty contestants will please meet with Mrs. A. A. Stripling on Sunday evening, August 7, at the Veterans Memorial Building, at 6 o'clock. She will instruct contest ants in a brief rehearsal.
