St Antoine Retains Boys Track And Field Title St. Antoine was able to success fully defend its title in the Boys Inter-Branch track and field meet which was held at Belle Isle Sun day morning, by compiling 78 points, Adams was second with 45 points and Western third with 44 1-2 points. The St. Antoine seniors piled up 39 1-2 points to lead their divi sion. The intermediates finished second in their division with 16 1-2 points to Fisher's 27 1-2 The jun iors were second with 17 marks to Adams’ 25 1-2 Otto Nicklas and the relay were the only St. Antoine entries to es tablish new meet records. Nicklas set a new mark of 4 feet 5 1-2 in ches in the senior running high jump. The old record was 4 feet 2 inches. The S880 relay team made a new record in their event when James Moore, Roy Simpson, Eli jah Counts and Walter Simpson sped around the track in 46.6 sec onds to break the old mark of 46.8 seconds. Elijah Counts won the senior 100 yard sprint and Roy Simp so, both of St. Antoine, was third. The time was 11 seconds. James Moore of St. Antoine won the 220 yard sprint in 25 seconds. Counts also won the running high jump with Walter Simpson second and James Moore fourth. Walter Simpson and Roy Simpson finished second and third respect ively in the running broad jump. Roy Simpson was third in the standing broad jump. James Moore as second in the shot put Malone fourth. Campbell of St. Antoine, was fouth in the intermediate 100 yard dash. T. Woodson won the running high jump with a leap of 4 feet 11 inches. Cummings finished third in the running broad jump, St. An toine won the 440 yard relay. Davis was third in the junior 25 yard dash. Otto Nichlas won the running high jump and Grier the standing broad jump with a leap of 6 feet 5 inches. St. Antoine was third in the 200 yard relay. Nichlas was third in individual scoring with six points in the jun ior meet. Columbus Hammers Detroit Hurlers For 40 Hits For the second time this season the Detroit Stars dropped a dou ble-header on, the home lot to a Visiting team, Baltimore stopped the Detroit team on both ends of a twin bill in the early days of the present campaign, and Columbus added the latest double defeat Sun day. The visitors won the first game of the double bill, 15-5, and cap tured the second, 17-5. Both events were free hiting contests with the Blue Birds collecting a total of 40 hits, 18 in the initial contest and 22 in the final affair. The Detroit hurling staff proved incompetent in the two games, yielding six doubles, six triples and four home runs during the batting bee staged by the Colum bus nine. Hensley Chased From Mound Hensley, who started on the mound for the locals in the first game ,was forced to retire in the second inning after the Birds has nicked his delivery for seven hits and seven runs. Armour, who re placed him, held the Columbus batters to 11 hits and six runs. Andrews, Columbus centerfielder smacked one of Hensley’s pitches over the left field fence with two runners on the bases in the first inning. Brooks and Gilchrest rap ped out triples against the Detroit hurler before he retired in the second inning. Brooks hit a homer in the ninth. Manager Jim Taylor used five pitchers in the second game in an effort to stifle the battle ities of the Columbus hi S ler was on the mound himself, but all hurlers looked alike to the vis itors as they walloped the offer ings of the Detroit pitchers to the far corners of the lot, collecting four doubles, two triples and two home runs.
