Markneukirchen, a little town in Saxony, is known far beyond the frontiers of that kingdom as the place where excellent crusical in struments are manufactured, more especially violins, to which latter it owes the name of “Saxon Cremona.” Its manufactures comprise nearly the whole field of instruments, such as guitars, flutes, clarionets, wind instru ments (in brass and German silver), accordions, concertinas, zithers, brass violins, violoncertos, etc. Many a mu sician owns an instrument, regarding which he barely knows whence it came, owing to the fact that a large portion of the Markneukirchen manufactures sail under a foreign flag, and many an instrument bearing a celebrated “label” originated in the quiet little Saxon town, which at the present moment stands at the head of this special branch of industry.-- Paris American Register.
