The child was at Sunday school yesterday, but complained of sickness in the evening, and at about 7 o’clock the mother administered what she considered a dose of opium. At 9 o’clock the child was much worse, yet the mother did not seem to imagine the opium had anything to do with her condition.At 1 o’clock Monday morning the aunt with whom the child slept, discovered the latter iu a condition which alarmed her. The child was unconscious and breathing very heavily. Dr. Struble was immediately called. He found the child suffering from opium poisoning, and he labored faithfully but vainly to counteract the effects of the poison until the child died,which was at 5 o’clock Monday morning.
