Mr. and Mrs. James E. Beutel, Airport Road, Lockport, will re present district 13 of Pure Milk Association in the Aug. 22-23 con test to choose the outstanding young dairy couple of PMA. The Beutels were named July 20 as contest winners in district 13, Albert Krusemark of Frank fort, member of the PMA board for district 13, made the announce ment. The young couple will compete with winners from 18 PMA dis tricts in Illinois, Indiana and Wis consin. Winner and runnerup will receive expense-paid trips to the 50th annual convention of National Milk Producers Federation Nov. 27 - Dec. 1 in Washington, D.C. Beutel, who is 24, operates a 387-acre farm. He is the son of George Beutel, member of the board of the national Brown Swiss breeders’ association and a past president of the state organization. The senior Beutel, a Joliet auto mobile dealer, served as the state association’s chief for 10 years. Young Beutel, a 1960 graduate of Joliet Catholic High School, is 75 percent owner of a herd of 36 Brown Swiss, 34 of them registered. There are 22 milk ing cows in the herd. His wife, Joann, is a graduate of Joliet Township High School. She serves as secretary of Canton 1, Illinois Brown Swiss Associ ation. Her husband is a former 4-H’er and the couple belongs to Will County Farm Bureau and Joliet local of PMA. They have a son, Jimmy, 2 1/2 years old.
