July 17, the institutionwas inspected by many members of the medical and nursing professions. who expressed high enthusiasm and warmly complimented the management upon the Splendid improvement*. On Wednesday, July 18. the hospital was likewise inspected by the general public, who also were loud in their praise of the up-to-date institution.Maay ImprovementsKvory part of the hospital has been completely renovated and redecorated and a number of new features have been added. It has a fifty bed-capacity, most of the rooms being designed to accomodate two patients. There is also one general ward in which ten patients can be accommodated.The beds throughout the hospital are of the newest design, with back-rests for the comfort of patients.The fully-«NJutpped nursery is on the second floor. It is very airy, with abundant sunlight.The operaUng room, obstetricaldelivery rooms, and supply rooms are separate and well arranged, new equipment having been installed in all departments.The dining-room, consultation room, interne's quarters, kitchen,lauadry, laboratory. *n(l 8torerooms have been placed In the basement, which has keen thoroughly modernlied. No expense has been spared to make the hospital complete in every detail.Hew Stuff 'Mercy Hospital will be manned by a mixed staff, composed of outstanding colored and white physicians and surgeons. Associated with the institution will be Dr. Itemiia O. Robinson, a product of the Detroit High Schools and the University of MichiganDr. Robinson, a medical graduate of the U. of M., also received extensive training In surgery at the St. Leuta Hospital Number I for the past four years, and for the past two years havtag been surgeon-ln-cblef of the resident etafT of that hospital. Louie Medical School.| The stafT at Mercy Hospital has not yet been completely formed, but will be anaomaced to the public later, by Dr. Daisy L. North-cross and I)r. H. K. Thompson. Dr. Thompson is a graduate of Howard University Medical School and for many years has been affiliated with the Doctors Northcross. He has been a constant associate ami able assistant in conducting the institution, since the death of Dr. |I). (\ Northcross.In addition to the new staff of physicians and surgeons, Mercy Hospital has a new corps of nurses. under the supervision of Miss Bessie Whitman, a (graduate of Lincoln Training School. New York City. For some years, she was head of the A. I. I raining School, at Nashville, Tenn. Miss Whitman was also superintendentJMichigan. Is a popular favoriteand Is conceded to he out In front.Of .the aspirants for U. s. Congress from the First Congressional district, two are colored; namely Atty. Charles Mahoney and Attorney Charles Roxborough. There are also five Negro candidates in the race for the State Senate from the Third Senatorial district, ofwhom one is a Democrat, Attorney Charles Jones. I). U. Northcross.* who will be the superintendent. She is a graduate of Loyola University Medical School of Chicago, and lias for many years been a specialist in diseases of women and children. Washington Trade Association. Chairman Blount stated at the meeting Thursday nightthat he had never seen a morn hearty response to any public movement In Detroit. Dr. James J. McClendon, one of the first to endorse the headquarters, not only expressed complete confidence, hut stated that It was one of the greatest economic efforts ever undertaken by the group..Strong endorsements were also given by Dr. O.
