William MearFuneral services for William Mear, 57 years old, 12230 Artesian ave., were held Saturday from St. Benedict church. Burial was at Mt. Olivet cemetery.An inquest into the death of Mr. Mear was held Friday morning at Hallman’s Funeral Home with the following verdict returned:“William Mear came to his death on the 20th day of July A. D. 1933, in the St. Francis hospital as the result of a crushing injury of the chest, hemorrhage and shock due to external violence. Said violence caused while the decedent was on the Baltimore and Ohio Chicago Terminal R, R. Co. right-of-way about 400 feet north of Cochran st., city of Blue Island when struck and run over by a B. 0. C. T. switch engine No. 1004 southbound on the northbound tracks on the 20th day of July, A. D. 1933, about 6:30 a. m. daylight time. From the testimony presented, we, the jury, believe this occurrence an accident.”Mr. Mear, who had teen in the brick industry since the age of 15, is survived by his father, Edward Mear, of Blue Island; his wife. Mrs. Mary (nee Turner) Mear ana the following children: Mrs. Ethel Brandenburg, Lucille, Elmer, George, jr.; Isabel, Eileen and Lorraine Mear and two sisters: Mrs. Tillie Kovaleski and Mrs. Ida Peloquin—all of Blue Island.He was returning from Yard No. 22 of the Illinois Brick Co. to his home when he was struck.
