Miss Maude Randall returned yes terday morning from Walnut, Ill. where she had been spending a two weeks’ vacation. During her stay, she had some very thrilling experiences in airplane riding which she will not soon forget. She was fortunate in be ing at Walnut and Normandy at the time some friends were there who are now running Canadian Curtis planes for the Caldwell Bros. Her first ride last Friday was up over Walnut, going only to a height of 2000 feet, but far enough to have the thrill of a real loop the loop and a nose spin. She was up for twenty-five minutes the first day. On Saturday her stay was lengthened to half an hour and the plane went to a greater height than the day previous. They went over Wal nut, Normandy and Deer Grove. While over Normandy and at the tremend ous height the pilot indulged in a double loop the loop and a nose spin, then coming nearer the ground made a second nose spin. The opportunity was a fine one, and Miss Randall is very enthusiastic over her experienc es. The second day she was given a Seat beside the pilot and shown some of the mechanism in operation A young woman was telling a friend about an acquaintance, a young man named Francis, whom the second girl had never seen. “What sort of a chap is Francis, anyway?” asked the listener. “Well,” the other replied, after a moment's thought, “if ever you see two men in a corner and one looks bored to death, the other one is Fran cis.”
