- —J. S. VAUGHT OF DEMINGJ. S. Vaught, the? present assist-ant district attorney of the Sixth Judicial District of New Mexico is nut for the main toga. This week s Liberal carries his announcement as a candidate subject l« the Democratic convention.Mr. Vaught ia a member of the firm of Vaught St Watson, prominent attorneys of Lunu County, ami in his present office as assistant to the District Attorney is rapidly making good. He has been four years in Deming, coming there from Mississippi. He has held his present office since the first of February. During tya time he has had nine first degree murder cases, and has secured convictions on all of them. He prosecuted the Villistas who were recently hung in Deming.I am making this campaign on my record and on my own popularity;' said attorney Vaught. “I have some ancestors, but I do not wish to inflict them upon the voters of this district as a means of getting an office. If I do not deserve the place on my own account, I'd rather not have it.
