Bouslog, are visiting relatives at Princeton, Indiana.AUGUSTUS ELMliR PASSED AWAY.WeH-Know siNew Orleasis Han Dead.BusinessAugustus Elmer, well-known in Bay St. Louis, and for many seasons a summer resident and frequent visitor here, died shortly after midnight Monday morning at his home in New Orleans. ; He was one of the oldest, most widely known and most popular ex-traveling salesmen in this section. His death followed after an illnese of four months. Mr. Elmer was spending a while in Bay St. Louis a few weeks since, with the hope of regaining his lost health, but his malady was already too far advanced.Mr. Elmer was born at Biloxi, Miss., fifty-seven years ago and had his early education there. When a very young man, he began his business career, and, having a leaning toward that vocation, he finally became a traveling salesman for the Orleans Manufacturing Company, with which concern he was connected for eighteen years. He carried a numhcr of side lines, among them being candy, in which lino he met with marked success, and, finally, a number of years ago, became a partner in and president of the candy and confectionery firm of the Miller-Elmer Candy Manufacturing Company. He continued in this business up to the time of his death, becoming widely known among the retailers throughout this section.Almost immediately upon taking up the vocation of traveling salesman he became a member of the Traveler's Protective Association, Post B, of Louisiana. His ardent work for the organization and his intense popularity soon brought him the honor of president of the post, which position he occupied for a number of terms. After twenty years on the road he abandoned the life of a traveling salesman to become a member of the candy manufacturing firm. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias, Knights of Honor, and U. T. C., in all of which organizations he was held in high esteem.In early manhood the deceased wedded Miss Olivia Miller, who, together with the five sons who survive of the eight children born to the union, survive him.
