The grand lodge officers will be present and a big time is expected. A number of the members of the Rebekah lodge went to Arthur ‘Thurs day night and conferred the degree upon several candidates. They had a banquet and a general good time. J. A. Wiggs, one of the leading citi zens of Monroe township, has our thanks for a cash contribution. Cooper Stilwell the hardware men are preparing to build a manmoth two story stone structure on the cor ner where the old church stood many years ago. Tuesday night Newman's 9 show styling itself a dog and pony show, pitched its tent in Lobbey addition and caught about 500 suckers. They had four or five dogs and as many ponies, neither of which would do any thing. As a show the only thing that could be said of them is that they have a big tent. Everybody in town nearly went to take the children but there was nothing, absolutely nothing for the children of grown folks either to see. August Yeaver, son of John Yeager of Monroe township, shot himself through his head Friday morning of last week. ‘The pistol used was a 32 caliber. The ball entered the sceull just above and between the eyes and panned downward. The cause of the deed is said to have been over a girl of the neighhood that had jilted him. Drs. McGowan and Mason of Oakland City are attending him and some hope is held out for his recovery. The bullet has not been removed as it was feared that he would surely die. ‘The doctors think he stands a show to get well if they can keep off inflamation. He is 22 years old and has always been regarded as a splendid young MEM. While loading hay into Beasley's livery barn Thursday afternoon, Frank Shaw met with quite a painful acci dent. They were putting hay in the loft by means of a hay carrier when all of a sudden the carrier refused to thimp a load of hay. After several others had failed an attempt to make it work. Me. Shaw climbed upon the hay held by the fork which was up from the foor about ten feet, and took the ax with him to pry it loose. He expected to fall when he should pet it loose but when he secured its re lease and fell with the bunch of hay the ax turned in his hand and he fell with his right wrist upon the blade of it. A wound a couple of inches long was cut in his wrist and three stitches were necessary to sew it up. Drs. DeTar dressed the wound. Luckily the artery was not molested and it is merely a flesh wound.
