Visited Jeme2 Springs.J. II. Gerdes. Dr. Haroun, j. G. Schuman and (1. 1). Koch returned from jemez Springs. They went by team, driving to Pena Blanca by noon tire first day. remained9there until three o’clock, drove on until eight o'clock carrying water with them, stayed over night .and reached Jemez Pueblo at ii o'clock in the forenoon, remained there until three and reached jemez Springs at six o’clock on the second day out. They stopped at the Stone hotel twelve days, where they took baths, fished, climbed mountains and investigated ruins. Mr. Gerdes visited Sulphur Springs fifteen miles away, and speaks of the intervening country as lovely beyond description. The party was highly pleased with the springs and felt much better for their baths. The accommodations there are good. The charge is nine . dollars a week for board and five dollars a dozen for bath tickets. Twelve baths are about all one wants to take in two weeks. Twenty five dollars takes the visitor through two weeks very nicely. M. S. Otero thinks he has acquired title to the property and is improving it. A stage runs to the springs weekly from Albuquerque. The nights and mornings are cool. There are sulphur and iron springs with a temperature varying from 125 to 145 degrees. The fishing is excellent. Bear and deer are abound.
