Larrie Pilling is the new batting leader in the Bran don Centennial Fastball League, official league sta tistics released today show. With the season almost two-thirds completed, the A and W second baseman boasts a lofty .560 average, with 14 hits in 25 attempts. The season's’ early leader, UCT’s’ Lefty Hendrickson, has slipped into a third-place tie with the Firebird’s Al Gillis, both at highly respectable .455 marks. Second is Hendrickson’s team-mate, John Holleman, who sits at 471. Two other batters, Roy Demers of Mance (.448) and Mizers’ Greg Rabe (.414) are also on the sunny side of the .400 mark. Holleman has the most hits, 16, while Cook’s Rick Thompson leads in singles with 14. Rabe has six dou bles to lead that category and Pilling’s four triples are best in that depart ment. Simplot’s Ed Evans has slammed three homers, best in the league, and also leads in runs batted-in with 13. Jim Richards of Clan william has scored the most runs, 21, while Simplot’s Danny Flick has received the most walks, nine. Brad Langston, the workhorse of Brandon Au to Electric’s mound staff, has pitched the most in nings, 7144, while Brian Zimmer of Simplot leads in strikeouts with 48.
