A Joplin woman was fatally injured when she was struck by a car as she was walking across the street near the intersection of Fifteenth street and Michigan avenue about 7:15 o'clock Wednesday night. The victim was Mrs. Manda I. Blood, 59 years old, 1714 Dela ware avenue. She was pro nounced dead on arrival at Free man hospital where she was tak en by an ABC ambulance. Lorenzo F. Lowery, 47, 312 Highview avenue, was the driver of the car. The accident occurred on Fif teenth street, about 24 feet west of its intersection with Michigan avenue. Mrs. Blood, carrying a sack of groceries, was walking south across Fifteenth street and walked into the path of the west bound car driven by Lowery, ac cording to police. The fatality was the third in Joplin this year and the first pedestrian fatality. A year ago at this time there had been four fatalities in Joplin. The accident was investigated b Traffic Officer Paul Bowlby.
