Report for Month of June Shows Six Killed in Raleigh County During Month Thirty-nine deaths were reported to the state department of mines dur ing June, according to the monthly report. Nine of the persons killed were foreigners and 30 natives. Three were killed outside the mines and 36 inside. The causes of death were classified as follows: Fall of roof and coal, 18; electricity, 4; motor outside of mine, mine cars, 9; motor, 3; explos ives, 2; 1; miscellaneous causes out side of mine, 2. McDowell county led the list of counties with 13 deaths. Raleigh was second with six and Fayette third with five, Kanawha, Logan, Monongalia, Ohio and Tucker coun ties reported two each; Harrison, Mercer, Mingo, Wayne and Wyom ing, one each. Those to meet death in Raleigh were: June 9th, Mike Hatzimonolis, Greek, miner, was injured by a run away horse on incline at Dorothy mine, Chesapeake Ohio Railway Company, and died June 24th. June 18th, J. W. Peake, American, miner, was killed by fall of slate at No. 5 mine, East Gulf Coal Co. June 19th, Owen Daniel, American, motorman, was killed by fall of slate at Killarney mine, Killarney Smoke less Coal Co. June 19th, Richard Clifford, Amer ican, track and slate man, was elec trocuted (250 volts) at No. 2 mine, Amigo Coal Co. June 21st, Charles H. Via, Ameri can, Superintendent, was injured by being run over by car at Sarita mine, Chesapeak Ohio Railway Com pany, and died June 22nd. June 27th, E. L. Duff, Negro, min er, was killed by fall of slate at Pickshin mine, Pickshin Coal Co. Those killed in Fayette county were James Bond, negro, No. 2 mine, Stonega Coal and Coke company; Felix Dorsey, negro, No. 2 mine, In gram Branch Coal company; C. M Lilly, president and manager of Packs Branch Coal company; W. A. Coffman, Kilsyth mine, McKell Coal and Coke Company; Elmer Shields, negro, Whipple mine, White Oak Fuel company.
