Contract Let For Harvey Addition, Material ComingThe arrangements for the.building of the new,addition to the Fred Harvey House is underway and it is anticipated that material for the construction will begin to arrive in af ew days, unless the strike situation ties it up.The contract for the work was recently let to the Summer Sollitt Company of El Paso, Texas.The addition will contain forty additional rooms, with private bath to each room. The demand for first class hotel accommodation- has^bpen large this summer:. Last 'week there were requests for rooms with private bath and first class accommodations from a large number of persons who were traveling by train. They would have stopped over in Gallup for a few days at least could they have bfeen accommodated, but did not stop because of the fact that hotel room with these modern necessities could not beUr* ,provided; The Harvey House was over taxed, and the- accommodations could not be furnished. This has been the situation for some time, z It Is hoped that the additional rooms of the new addition will help to relieve this matter to some extent.The people of thee ountry realize that money invested in Qallup will bring, big returns The great difficulty has been that people were af-Frald to take a chance on Gallup because they were afraid of a fight by 'th 9 s e .who I i gur ed that, no ongJa ad .a ngfifTo comehere,.and enter business. They did not care to invest their money and then fight injunction suits in order to get the prizilege of doing business. +The additilnaj/forty rooms to the Harvey house*™ill be a big help for the town, but it will by no means be sufficiently large for a very long time. Gallup is coming to the front too rapidly. Other and larger hotels must be. built to accommodate the traveling public. Tourists camp grounds will ^ot be a permanent thing perhaps; the tuto tourists will use modern hotel facilities largely.
