Lew Fields and Joe Weber will nce more appear in the same mus ical comedy, the present plan being that they make an all summer run in New York, after which Fields will retire from the musical comedy field to devote his professional life to straight comedy. Frederick Warde, who is now ap pearing in “A Thousand Years Ago,” has written a new book on Shakes peare called “An Apostle of Chris tianity.” Upton Sinclair, writer of the world wide famed book, “The Jungle,” has recently returned from Bermuda to cooperate in the staging of his great story. Mr. Sinclair himself plays a part in the film version and has taken an active interest in the pro gress of the scenes. Lew Dockstader, supported by Gail Kane, Lois Meredith and a big com pany of more than 300, will appear in motion pictures of an original civil war story called “Dan,” which is from the pen of Hal Reid. Immediately upon the close of her present co-starring engagement with John Drew, Ethel Barrymore will make her appearance before the mo tion picture camera in a five reel picture which is to be produced by the AllStar Feature corporation. Sanger Jordan have sold the dramatic and acting rights for Jack London’s story, “John Barleycorn,” to Robert Campbell. “The Spoil enters into its lighth week at the Studebaker thea tre William Farnum and Kathryn Williams are seen in the leading roles. ‘This motion picture has set a pace that has broken all records for long runs of photo plays in Chi cago, and has outlasted many award ler dramatic play. Siberia for Honolulu, where a six Weeks’ engagement scheduled at the Bijou theatre. Fol lowing the Honolulu engagement the company will sail for Japan, August 1, on the S. S. Mongolia, and will play Yokohama, Tokio, Osaka and Kobe. From Kobe the tour will continue to Manila. At the conclu sion of the Manila engagement, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tie Tsin, China, will be negotiated on the return trip. ‘The most important alliance bes tween theatrical and motion picture Interests ever formed was recently completed between the Shubert Theatrical company and the World Film corporation. The corporation is known as the Shubert Feature Film corporation, with a capitaliza tion of $2,000,000, and will manufac tre into moving pictures all of the Shubert company. The bert Theatrical company — controls hundreds of plays, dramas, ia and comedies while the World Film corporation, with which the theatri cal feople have become — allied have fifty-five distributing branches throughout the United States and Canada. The Shubert Feature Film company is to make all the picturiza tions and the World Film corporation to exploit them through its ex changes. Among some of the best known productions to be filmed are “America,” “The Whip, “The Blue Mouse,” A Chinese Honeymoon, “Way Down Fast,” “Baby Mine” and “Litue Women.
