AT THE POOR FARM.Two Deaths Occur There — An Attack of Summer Complaint.There is a good deal of dystentery among the inmates of the poor house just at present, and the attention and care that hey need taxes the strength and time of the matron, Mrs. Alexander, and her assistants, to the utmost, but all receive proper care and kindly assistance. The inmates at the poor farm have always received the best of care and the kindest consideration from former matrons, but Mr .and Mrs. Alexander are deserving of the highest praise for the untiring manner in which they care for their charges and nurse them in sickness.The following deaths occurred there: Melinda Hamner died on Saturday afternoon of inflammation of the bowels. She was 46 years old; born in Pennsylvania, and an inmate of the poor house since 1887. She has a brother living on Ashmun street, who has also been sick for some time.On Sunday afternoon Charles P. Sherry, 42 years of age, died of consumption. He was born in the state of New York, traveled all over the country, and claimed to have no relatives. He was sent from the hospital on July 1, 1896, to the county Infirmary.
