KENT, Ohio (AP) - As protesters threatened to resort to another camp in, a judge ruled on Monday that the construction of a gymnasium annex could proceed near the site of the 1970 Kent State University shootings. Portage County Common Pleas Court Judge Joseph Kainrad lifted an order that had halted construction of the $6 million annex while the case was being considered. He also granted the university's request for an injunction to prevent protesters from further delaying con struction. Meanwhile, the Interior Department said Monday it will decide whether portions of the campus should be declared a National Historic Landmark because of the deaths there. Angola Attacked On Two Fronts JOHANNESBURG, South Africa (AP} ~ Antigovernment forces based in Zaire attacked Angolan army positions Monday in northeast ern Angola while other guerrillas attacked in the south, Luanda radio reported. : The government broadcast monitored here said the attacks in the northeast were launched in coordina tion with other antigovernment forces fighting near the southern Angolan town of Cuangar, located near the border with the South African-administered territory of South-West Africa. Conrad Trial Delayed To Oct. 11 LOS ANGELES — Gene Conrad's trial under federal indictment which was scheduled to begin here today has been continued until Oct. 11 to allow his federal public defender more time to prepare. U.S. District Court Judge Robert Firth also continued until a date yet to be set a hearing on pre-trial motions which was to have been held Monday. Conrad, an Anaheim resident who was one of Orange County's major campaign contributors last year, is accused of masterminding a $1.2 million loan brokering fraud. 25,000 Coal Miners Won’t End Strike LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - About 25,000 coal miners in at least two States ignored pleas by union leaders Monday to return to work and end their weeks-long wildcat strike over cutbacks in health benefits. Robert Carter, president of United Mine Workers District 30 in eastern Kentucky, said some 10,000 miners refused to cross picket lines set up by “roving pickets. In southern West Virginia, about 15,000 union miners were reported off the job. Burned. Stabbed Body Found In Trunk BAKERSFIELD (AP) — The stabbed and partially burned body of a man was found stuffed inside the trunk of a car after it was set on fire Monday, authorities said. A preliminary autopsy showed the unidentified victim had been Stabbed nine times, but Kern County Coroner Richard Gervais said he was still alive when the fire was set. Further tests will be taken to determine if the man died from the stab wounds or from asphyxiation. 3 Californians Killed In Fiery Crash SALOME, Ariz. (AP) — A mobile home swayed and pulled a pickup out of control, killing three Californians in a fiery crash on U.S. 60 near this southwest Arizona desert town, the highway patrol said. The dead were identified as Douglas R. Brehems Jr., 5, and Linda Jean Ward, 21, both of Angwin, and Jill Hedges, 17, of Napa. The trailer began to sway, sending both vehicles into a broadside skid, officers said. The pickup and trailer overturned and caught fire. Two SA Brothers Found Fatally Stabbed SANTA ANA — Two teen-aged brothers died Sunday night after they both were stabbed during a fight involving several juveniles in El Salvador Park, police reported. Investigators said they received an anonymous phone call reporting a disturbance in the park at Sixth Street and Western Avenue about 8:30 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene they found Hector Dolores, 17, and his younger brother, Walter, 15, bleeding from stab wounds in hel backs. Both died about an hour later at separate hospitals, police said. Members of British Rock Group Held SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A drummer, the manager and two other associates of the British rock band Led Zeppelin were arrested Monday on a warrant stemming from an alleged fracas with stage hands following a Saturday concert, officials said. Police listed the arrested as drummer John Bonham, 29, band Manager Peter Grant, age unknown; Stage manager Richard Cole, 31, as security guard John Bindon, 34. All said their hometown was low. Each posted bail of $250 per count. Whittier Man Slain In Buena Park BUENA PARK — A Whittier man was fatally shot and five others, including two juveniles were wounded here early Sunday morning, police said Monday, Jesse Cortez, 19, of 11020 Valley View Ave., Whittier, was found mortally wounded about 2 a.m. in the street in front of 10293 Diane St. The identified injured were Manuel Perez, 19, and Jerry Steve Perez, 18, both of Buena Park, and Edward Gonzales, 18, of La Palma. They were located by police after the incident at Stanton Community Hospital. Bus Plunges 300 Feet; 37 Killed NUEVA ITALIA, Mexico (AP) — A chartered bus carrying a group of Roman Catholics on a religious pilgrimage through Mexico left the highway and plunged 300 feet down a canyon, killing 37 persons and injuring nine others Saturday night, a Red Cross physician said today. Dr. Jesus Mora Martinez said survivors told him the bus was about five miles south of Nueva Italia, in the west coast State of Michoacan, when it missed a curve and tumbled down the canyon. Plane Crash In Honduras Kills 22 YORO, Honduras (AP) - A Honduran air force plane carrying 33 persons crashed shortly after taking off from here Monday and 22 perished, government authorities reported. They said the 11 others were injured. Most of the victims were employes of the Interior Ministry in the capital of Tegucigalpa and had flown to Yoro for a festival honoring the town’s patron saint. . . ’ . 50 Die In Pakistani Rainstorm SAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) — Lightning and torrential rains killed 50 persons and injured scores in the Swat district of Northwest Frontier province, officials said Monday. They said the rains on Sunday also caused heavy damage to houses and food crops in the hilly area. Sunday's deaths have raised the toll from rain and and floods in the frontier province, bordering Afghanistan, to 103 in 10 days. Gunman Robs Knott’s Over Weekend BUENA PARK — Police Monday were seeking a middle-aged gunman who reportedly escaped with between $15,000 to $25,000 following a Saturday afternoon robbery at Knott's Berry Farm. Investigators said the gunman, described by witnesses as between 40 to 50 years old, approached Knott's employe Steven Fedor, 25, of Orange, as he was gathering receipts from cashiers at the amusement park's main gate about 1:30 p.m. According to officers, the robber reportedly pulled a gun and then rabbed a bag of cash and traveler's checks from Fedor and fled on foot.
