WILLIAM (BILL) HIEMER SWOMLEYWilliam (Bill) Hiemer Swomley was bom Aug. 4,1894 at New Oxford, Penn. ■ He moved to Iowa in his early years and spent most of his life farming. The last 13 years before he retired he spent operating the DX statlcm in Fayette. He also was a W. W. I veteran, serving from 1918-1919, and a life time member of the American Legion.In 1931 he was united in marriage to Edith Odessa Atwood. To them 2 sons and 3 daughters were born. Bill was. preceded In death by his parents, Anthony and Sarah (Nuly) Swomley and one brother and 2 sisters. Also an infant son.William passed away on June 28, 1973 after a lingering illness at Palmer Hospital in West Union.Services were held at the Beilis-Wright Funeral Home in Fayette at 10:30 a. m, on July 2, 1973. Interment was in Grandview Cemetery at Fayette, Iowa.Survivors include his wife, Edith: one son, Bruce of rural Oelwein; three daughters, Mrs, George (Beverly) Knight, Oelwein: Mrs. Bernard (Norma) Rohde and Mrs. Marcella Rodgers of Fayette: one sister and three brothers and several grandchildren.
