Mrs. Helen Claiborne has re signer as instructor of band and boys’ glee club at Lau rens consolidated school, it was acknowledged this week by Don Henderson, school super intendent. No successor has been named as yet, Henderson said, but several have been considered. Mrs. Claiborne came to Lau rens in 1954 from West Bend where she had taught for nine years. Prior to that time she taught vocal music four years at Osceola. She is a graduate of the State University of Iowa and received her BM degree in 1940. At Laurens she has taught band, boys’ glee club and tenth grade English. During the summer months, she has been giving lessons to over 100 pupils each week in the school band room, and has directed the summer band con certs.
