Bad Man With GunIs Caught in DrawHarry Heverly, Wanted in Pueblo for Grand Larceny, Is Arrested After ChaseMonday the county and city authorities received a request from the sheriff of Pueblo county To look out for and arrest one Uarry Heverly, who was wanted in Pueblo for the theft of a $60 watch and on other charges. The message to the officers here stated that Heverly was heavily armed and was a desperate character and the officers were warned to be on their guard while attempting the arrest, as the criminal was apt to endeavor to make a gun play and might kill someone.It seems Heverly came here about a week ago, and Marshal Worker remembered after the arrest that he had talked with him on at least one occasion previously. He has been workiog fora Mr. WiUon, a newcomer here, who lives west and south of the alfalfa mill. He is a man about 25 years of age, medium size, and has as a distinguishing feature a very flat nose.Marshal Worker, Sheriff Humlston and J. A. Mast went out on the warpath Tuesday and after some search located the man on the Wilson place. The postofllce had been watched and when Heverly sent in after his mail it simplified matters. When the officers reached the Wilson premises they discovered that Heverly was cultivating beets at some distance from the house. Going toward the field Mr. Wilson was encountered and the entire party went after the fugitive. Heverly saw them coming and deserting his team broke Into a run for the tall timber. Going to an irrigation ditch Just outside the Ueld he picked up his gun. which he hud concealed there, and made tracks up a draw some distance away. The officers lost sight of him, but after searching along through the draw Marshal Worker discovered him concealed under some weeds. He ordered him to come out, but Heverly refused. Sheriff lluiuiston and the marshal both covered him and the fugitive finally surrendered, hut refused to hold up his hands while Mr. Worker was getting the shackles out of the sheriff’s pocket. He was finally adorned with the state Jewelry, however, and brought to town and landed in Jail, never having fired a shot or done anything to verify his reputation as a had gunman. His revolver was not found, and it is thought that he threw it away, as it Is believed lie had stolen it and did not want it to he found on his person. Hotli officers tired several shots in the air to stop him but he seemed to he all out of that article and kept on hiking until he hid out in the draw.Sheriff McMillan and Undershcriff Hill came down from Pueblo in an automobile, arriviog here at 2 o’clock Wednesday morning, and left for that place shortly after with their prisoner heavily ironed and solicitously guarded, as they said they wanted Mr. Heverly bad.” It Is said there are a number of charges hanging over the prisoner’s head that he will he called upon to answer in the courts of Pueblo county.Iisa
