Henry . Kane, of Scott, Talked of for “water. The conventions to nominate candi dates for the next legislature in Vir ginis are coming on space, and It will soon be known what Washington counthy s going to do with her factions, whether she meana to put them behind herself or bring them out to the front and per mit them to fight a battle royal. The people of Scott county are es pecially interested in the senatorial race in the district comprising the coun ties of Scott, Wise, Les and Dickenson. The information comes from Scott county that the Democrats expect the nomination to go to that county this time. They claim that either Scott or Lee county is entitled to name the can didate this time. Prof. W. D. Smith, of Scott, who was talked of as a candidate for this honor, and who is man of great popularity, has decided that he wil not be a candi date for the position, but prefers to continue in his educational work. Henry 8. Kane, of Gate City, it is said, will be put forward as Scott county's candidate for the Senate. Mrr. Kane is a cousin of Judge Morison. He is a nice gentleman and one in whom there is no doubt good senatorial tim ber. He is aaid to be a good party worker and in sense deserving. It will be interesting to note what the Demo crate of these counties do. They are most sure to elect any good man they put forward.
