[Special.] —; Frank Ebbert committed suicide at Ins home on Johnston avenue at 11 o'clock this forenoon. Ebbert used a revolver and the bullet entered his head above the right ear and passed clear through the | brains, lie died in about five minutes after receiving the fatal wound.Ebbert was formerly a bar tender at the Yough house, hut was laid off three months ago on account of the hard times and the cons qui nt dull trade. He had a wife and four children to support, and leii g unable to secure work, has been in bard circumstances, llis creditors have been harnessing him of late, and this together with the fact that he lias been drinking considerably made him become despondent. Ebbert came down town this morning and met several of his old associates, with whom he chatted freely. He told Homer Smith that he was going to commit suicide, hut Smith thinking he was only Joking laughed nt him. Ebbert then went to the Smith house and asked for a revolver. In answer to some of his friends he said he didn't want to commit suicide. After securing a revolver from some friends on the street he went home.Mrs. Ebbert has been sick in lied for several weeks. Frank went to her room and told her he had received more duns from his creditors and t hat ho was going to kill himself. He walked into the next, room and sent a bullet through his brain. When found he w,.s lying across the bed with the blood streaming from the w ound. Mrs. Ebbert has taken a relapse and is now in a precarious condition.
