WALTER E. SMITHPINETOPS — Walter E. Smith, 92, a World WarII veteran, died Saturday,July 23, 2011.Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Carlisle Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Queen Anne Cemetery, Fountain.Mr. Smith was a former resident of Falkland. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Smith Braxton, and a son, Joseph Bennett Smith.He is survived by a loving family including his wife of 63 years, Alice Gay Smith; a son, Edward Wayne Smith of Pinetops; a brother, Roy Smith and wife Betsy of Falkland; two sisters, Earline Wooten of Cobbtown and Gladys Cobb and husband David Starling of Cobbtown. four grandchildren: RickySmith, Jennifer Smith, Stacey Smith and Jason Smith; and four great grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 7 to *9 p.m. today at Carlisle Funeral Home, Tarboro,Arrangements by Carlisle Funeral Home, Tarboro.
