On Saturday, July 14, many friends and relatives called at Avery’s Lodge to honor Jeff and Elsie Avery.on their gold en aniversary.. All of Elsie’s brothers and sisters were pres ent, Mrs Vida Fulford, Winni peg; Mrs Rena Cantelon, Sea ttle; Les and Beatrice Moore, Manitou; Pat and Eva Moore, Winnipeg; Ida and Jack Cack le, Surrey, B.C.. Also present from the coast were Ralph and Margaret Mickle, Oregon and Elsie’s cousin Jim and Vesta Whitton, Sacramento, and their two daughters and families Barbara and Bob Pearl, Oakland; Betty and Richard Tripp, Seattle. Jeff had a pleasant surprise in the afternoon when a cousin he hadn’t seen since 1917, drove in from Toronto with her hus band, Margaret and Al Tilton. Other friends came from many places in Manitoba and tele phone calls received. At 5:30 dinner for sixty-five was served to the family and friends with Aunt Rena asking the blessing. Bill proposed a toast to his mother and, dad, and Bob reading the many telegrams that were received. Alice Cosgrove and Dave Dun nett each gave their own thoughts and experiences with Jeff and Elsie through the years, all very entertaining. In the evening a presentat ion was made by Claude Cray ston by the Rock Lake Gun Club giving Jeff and Elsie a life membership in the club, and in money tree presented by Frank Guilford representing Crystal River district and Mert Nelson for other friends. Jeff ably responded to all, and ex pressed their pleasure at hav ing everyone present. The Crystal River ladies capably prepared, the food with girls Shelly, Lorna, Shirley, Karen and Kathy serving.
