DIOCESE OF SUPERIOR.Hudson: Last Sunday the VeryReverend John A. Barney celebrated the silver jubilee of his pastorate of the Church of St. Patrick. He officiated at the solemn High Mass at which a sermon appropriate to the occasion was preached by a Franciscan Father. At the Mass Father Barney used for the first time a magnificent silver chalice, beautifully engraved, jewelled and inscribed—a gift from one of the families of the parish.Father Barney is a native oT La Crosse, Win., where he was ordained to the priesthood by the late Bishop Flasch June 24, 1887. A year and a half later he came to Hudson, succeeding the late Father Kelly, and has been in charge of St. Patrick’s parish ever since.During these years the parish has prospered. A $10,000 addition has been made to the church, the school has been completed and paid for, a Sisters house has been bought, a parish hall has been erected and furnished. and many improvements have been made in the parochial residence and church.
