Frequently the expression was heard that the day wag one that would play an Important part In the- history of Utah, and those who attended the exercteog at the Assembly hall and later at the Lion house were eager to be enrolled flowcharter members of the new organfzailon,When the gathering dispersed, at about 3 o'clock in the afternoon* 375 names had been enrolled by the secretary of the new society. Officers were busy after that receiving applications for charter membership, and it is estimated that by the time the full list is compiled it will U)tal more than 500.Grayhaired pioneer, and sons and children, of planners, many of ^hom themselves nre already showing the silvery hairs that tell of the part they took Jn the building up of the state, were out in force at the meeting In the Assembly hall. Senator Smoot referred to the organization of the Sons and Daughters In Utah county ton years ago. and expressed his pride at tho fact that many of the members of that organ* ization were present.
