Scouts Pay \ isit To Ancient AlgiersAtchison Boy Among GroupFascinated by Sights ofOld North African CityAlgiers, Algeria—(/P—Boy Scouts from all parts of America sailed for Naples last night after a day visiting the old pirate lairs of this ancient North African city.The Scouts, 650 of them, are en route to a world jamboree in Bad Ischl, about 30 miles east of Salzburg, Austria, beginning Aug. 3.THEY LANDED here yesterday morning on their chartered ship, the S. S. Argentina, after a 10-day ocean crossing “without a case of seasickness,’* Scouts reported.French and Algerian Boy Scout delegations ,the latter wearing red fezzes atop their Scout uniforms, welcomed the ship.After touring the narrow, staircased steets of the old city, Glen McLaughlin of Shawnee, Okla., said emphatically, “As for the Casbah, I am glad I'm an American. It was good to see but it will be a long time before I want to return.”DICK RICE of Atchison, Kas., Kas., said the visit here “is a lifelong souvenir.Kenneth K. Johnson, a Missouri state highway patrolman and assistant scoutmaster from Jefferson City, Mo., pointed out that the dagger and fez merchants did a rushing business selling souvenirs to the scouts and added:“They'll probably arrive at the world jamboree looking like Orientals.”
