Bomber Squad Tops Circus, 2-1CANTERBURY, July 23—An estimated crowd of 5,000 persons saw the Eighth Bomber Command nine top the Traveling Circus, a Liberator outfit, 2—1, in a seven-inning twilight thriller at theSt. Lawrence Cricket Grounds here yesterday.Two errors, committed in the second stanza proved disastrous to the Circus aggregation. Pfc Nick Fracaro, of Joliet, 111., center fielder, reached first on a fielder's choice, advanced to third, and crossed the plate when Catcher Sgt. Jim Woods, of Ansley, La., let a called third strike get away from him. Cpl. Ross Grimsley, Bomber southpaw', banged one to the shortstop, who miscued, allowing S Sgt. Grady Corriher, of China Grove, N.C.. to score the final tally.This was the Bombers’ second triumph over the Traveling Circus outfit and their 14th straight in ETO competition. Grimsley struck out six batters to bring his total up to 92 in eight games. Cpl. Roy Bullymount, of Long Island, N.Y., losing twirler. fanned four.
