Asa Wentworth,Chairman of the Committee, and at the suggestion of the Committee the Convention was permanently organized by the election of the following officers:—President, Gen. John W. Phelps, of Windham County.cVice-Presidents, lion. D. L. Lyraan, of IWindsor, Hon. Wm. Hebard, of Orange» and J. K. Colbv, of Caledonia.Secretaries, A. N. Swain, of Windham County, and George C. Chamberlin, of Orange County.Gen. Phelps, on assuming the duties of the chair briefly thanked the Convention for the honor conferred.Hon. A. P. Hunton, of Bethel, then ad-1( dressed the Convention in which he spoke ^ of the faithful manner in which we had been represented by our present representative, and concluded by moving that the Hon. Justin S. Morrill be nominated for re-election by acclamation.lion. Calvin Morrill, from Caledonia County, seconded the nomination, aptly remarking that a3 Mr. Morrill had declined a re-election, they must draft him into the service, and under such circumstances he did not believe lie would decline to serve.Mr. E. C. Redington, of St. Johnstury, followed in a similar vein.The President then put the vote, and Mr. Morrill was unanimously nominated by acclamation, amid much applause.On motion of Mr. Ilenrv, of Chester, a committee of three was appointed to invite Mr. Morrill to address the Convention, and Mr. Henry, Iloti. Calvin Morrill and lion-Hampden Cutts, were appointed such committee. The committee retired, and soon returned wi'.h Mr. Morrill, who was received with the most hearty cheers. He addressed the Convention for about thirty minutes, strongly against the rebellion and in favor of using all our resources to put it ! down, including the use of slaves, in whatever manner they might he made the most useful.On motion, the old District Committee j were re-elected, as follows :—Asa Went- \ worth, cf Bellows Falls, W. C. French, of Woodstock, E. C. Redington, of St. Johns- ( bury, and C. C. P. Baldwin, of Bradford.The Convention was then briefly addressed by Mr. Henry, of Chester, Mr. Redington, of St. Johnsbury, ar.d Mr. Cutts, of Brattleboro.Judge Colburne, of Springfield, moved that the District Committee be instructed to call future Convention some time in the I month of June, which motion passed by a unanimous vote, and the Convention then : adjourned.
