The IHMrJct Convention. The district convention at White River Junction on Tuesday was quite fully attended, more than we had expected, considering the exceedingly stormy day. A few were j there doubtless because it was not good weather, hut many more from a distance were kept at home by the storm. The perfect unanimity and harmony which prevailed in the convention was truly gratifying, and while it is a high compliment to Mr. Morrill, to receive such a nomination in such a manner, we hold that it is no less so to the district which now secures his valuable influence and experience Mr. Morrill did not desire a re-election as we happen to know, and had strongly hoped that some other man would have been elected. Rut he lias been drafted in- | to the service, as it were, and under those j circumstances he did not feel at liberty to decline, and accordingly accepted the nomination in a very handsome speech before the convention. It is also gratifying to know that while his nomination will he received with dvlight among his own constit- : uents at home, it will also he hailed with much satisfaction abroad.
