The contemporary complex is in sharp contrast with some of the deteriorating and abandoned houses in the area. But it's also a shot in the arm for a community that faces the loss of St. Francis hospital, the St. Francis L.P.N. school, and the St. Bonaventure elementary school.Thomas Candy distributes candy, gum, and cigarettes to area retailers. It also distributes SlushPup p ie—a frozen fruit - f 1 a vored drink —in the Cincinnati area. Slush Puppie also has nut and popcorn machines.Slush Puppie is found in many countries around the world. In 1920, the surface of Bald Knob—or Pancake Hill, as it was known in early Cincinnati history—was skimmed by steam shovels to provide fill dirt for the Union Terminal. When the Radcliff Company began construction on the Thomas-Slush Puppie complex in 1978, some of the dirt was brought back to the Knob.”The 45 acres was purchased by Radcliff in 1976.
