TWENTY-EIGHT CABS ENTERED IN RELIABILITY REN BY AUTOMOBILE DEALERSWith the first lap of the reliability run from Gary too the Shades, being conducted under the auspices of the State Automobile Dealers’ association, finished Wednesday noon, drivers of twenty-eight cars entered in the race rested at the Shades hotel Wednesday night.The first car to reach the Shades Wednesday was an Essex, making the run of 148 miles in three hours and forty-five minutes. A Cole-8 followed close behind the Essex, and a Cadillac was the third to arrive. The second lap of the race back to Gary started this morning. Awards will be given on points. Some of the cars were disabled along the road, hut repairs were made and most of them had reached the Shades by noon Wednesday.A Peerless suffered a broken wheel and was thrown into an embankment along the road near Morroco, The first run of the journey was free from any serious accidents.Yesterday found the drivers and the mechanicians of the 24 cars entered in the Gary-Shades . reliability run busy planning at the Shades for the last lap of the journey back to Gary today. The stars will leave for the steel city this morning at nine o’clock.It was stated last night that it is the intention of the driver of the Essex to make the return trip of 145 miles with the machine working on only three cylinders.
