State Association Elects Larger Directorate At the annual meeting of the Massa chusetts Credit Union Association at the Boston City Club yesterday, Pres Max Mitchell presiding, the following were reelected directors for a term of three years: Charles Weil, Nathan Sallinger, Leon Strauss, Rev Harry Levi and Edwin J. Dreyfus. The following new directors were elected: Frederick Ayer, F. Alexander Chandler, Howard Coonlem Courtney Crocker, Henry 8. Dennison, George A. Flynn, George N. Jeppson, Edward F. McGrady, Michael A. Murphy, William A. Rossley and Senator David I. Walsh. The enlargement of the board of di rectors is part of the plans for the ex cession of Credit Union work throughout the country, for the promotion of which a National committee on people's banks was recently formed composed of the following: George FE. Roberts, Edward A. Filene, Warren 8. Stone, Hon David I. Walsh, W. W. Collier, Dr C. A. Beard, Felix Vorenberg, Maj James M. Boyle, Hon T. W. Bickett, Dr F. A. Cleveland, Dr Albert Shaw, Max Mitchell, Howard Coonley, Dr Elwood Mead, W. B. Pren ter, Hon Albert J. Beveridge, Dr W. F. McCaleb, M. Alphonse Desjardins. Plans were formed for a vigorous ex tension of the work of Credit Unions under the executive direction of Dr W. F. McCaleb, managing director, and Charles W. Birtwell, secretary. The association's headquarters at 78 Devon shire state the center of the movement for utilizing the Credit Unions or, as they are more commonly called in Eu rope People's Banks, for the promotion of thrift. The 59 Credit Unions in Mas sachusetts wound up their business of the last fiscal year with gross assets of 977,778, an increase during the year of 730,193, and a total membership of 17,636, an increase of 2815 during the year. Re aid loans amounted to $913,661, and oans amounting to $1,477,215 were made during the year. Deposits and shares during the year amounted to $1,283,580.
