LIN I Dll S in TERRE HAUTE HOSPITAL.PECK IS ITHE MOrOHMANTERRK HAUTE, Ind., July 15.— Thomas Thompson, 42 yiars old, a well to do bridge and gravel road contractor, living at Bellmore, Ind., near Rockville, Ind., died at two o'clock yesterday afternoon at the Union Hospital from injuries received about 11:15 o'clock yesterday morning, when his automobile was struck by an interurban car, near Stop 10, on the Indianapolis line.Thompson, it Is said, was driving wot on the National Road, which puralb Is the interurban tracks, east of the Hulman farm, and the automobile was struck by local train No. 15, due in Terre Haute at 11:15 o’clock, when Thompson attempted to turn north into a road across the tracks.Interurban Hits \uto.The car struck the front end of the machine and hurled the automobile to the side of the road. Mr. Thompson was thrown from the machine and landed several feet away from the car. His skull was fractured and his right leg broken In two place. He was picked up by the train crew and brought to Terre Haute, where he was rushed to the Union Hospital. His injuries proved fatal about 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon. The Interurban car was In charge of Motorman II. K. Peck and Conductor A. J. Duff, both of Green-cast le.The motorman, it is said, noticed the machine running along the road ahead of the cah but never thought of the man turning north in a side road. It is thought Thompson failed to see or hear the car. Thompson was in charge of the repairing of a bridge in the north of the National Road. The body was taken to the Ball Undertaking company, and was sent to Rockville, Ind., late yesterday evening.
