The party loft here on the 12:88 in-terurban car for Terre Haute Thursday afternoon. They were welcomed in Terre Haute by Mr. Foulkes and James M. Hoskins, general manager of the Terre Haute Vitrified Brick company. The party was taken to the Mose Turner Glass Works, one of the largest manufacturing concerns of the city. In company with Mr. Turner the party was shown through the factory, where many kinds of glass receptacles are made.The next stop was made at the Fort Harrison Country Club on the Wabash River north of the city. The clubhouse is buihhd about the old fort, in which William Henry Harrison and Zachary Taylor, former presidents of the United States, commanding a mall detachment of troops, made a historic stand against the attacking Indians in 1812. Mr. Foulkes showed his guests through the club house and about the grounds.After stopping at the Foulkes home, where the members of the party were ' •dc acquainted to the members of Mr. Foulkc- family, the Greencastle people visited the J. W. Davis green houses In the south side of Terre Haute. The Davis concern is known as the “cucumber factory” in Terre Haute. It is a vast concern, the big glass houses covering acres of ground. The cultivation of cucumbers In the greenhouses has attracted much nttention in the state.The Terre Haute Brewing company’s plant is by far the largest manufacturing concern in the city. Accompanied by a factory employee the party visited practically every department of the big building. Proha* bly this was the most enjoyable visit to the factories, taking into consideration the fact that it is the largest of any In Terre Haute, and one of the biggest factories In this part of the country.James M. It Is composed of one big factory building, a big shale pit and 80 dry kilns.At the Elks’ Club Mr. Foulkes entertained with a delightful five-course chicken dinner. Present were the Greencastle people, Paul G. Lindeman, engineer of the Foulkes company, who was here for several months, and a number of prominent members of the Iks’ Club of that city. Mr. Foulkes presided as toastmaster after the din-• i ner hud been served. Numerous responses were made by the Terre Haute citizens and F. M. Lyons spoke in behalf of the Greencastle party.
