OMAHA, Neb... July 23. By the purchase of the Paddock-Hawley Iron company of St. Louis, D. A. Baum and J. E. Baum of Omaha are to make this city the headquarters and distribut ing center of one of the biggest lines of hardware and iron jobbing houses in the country,. Articles of incorporation of the New Paddock-Hawley company were filed Fri day at the courthouse, authorizing a cap ital stock of $790,000, the incorporators be ing D. A. Baum, J. FE. Baum and Fred Hawley. It now transpires that this was the result of the purchase by the Bauma of the old Paddock-Hawley company, one of the oldest and largest tron companies of the west. As the concern has branches in several cities, embracing most of the leading tron houses of the Mississippi valley, the passing of it Into the Shade of the Raume Means that Omaha men are to have con trol of a vast industry, and that Omaha, a headquarters and business center of the concern, is to assume greater prestige in the Iron jobbing trade. From this city will be directed the affairs of the Baum Iron company of Omaha, the Paddock. Hawley company of St. Louis, for the house there is to maintain its old name, and the Sioux City Iron company of Sioux City Besides this, the Baums are large stockholders in the Des Moines Iron com pany of Des Moines, Ta. Beth D. A. and J. BE. Baum have been in St. Louis a large share of the time for several months, during which time the deal for the transfer of the Paddock slawley company has been Pending. It is believed the Baums own the greater por tion of the stock in the newly organized concern.
