The City Physician's Report.City Physician Heifer, who was authorized by the Council to make an investigation of the nuisance created by the opening of thesteamship mattresses in the city, reports as0follows:To the Honorable the Mayor and Council: Gentlemen—In compliance with a resolution passed by the Common Council at session of 13th inst., and approved by his Honor the Mayor on 13th inst., regarding complaint made of mattresses being removed from the different steamship lines in and through the city, I would respectfully submit the following report of my investigation:I had a conversation with the Inspector and Superintendent of the North German liioyd Steamship Company, and was informed that they gave all their mattresses to Jacob Schmidt without receiving any compensation for them, as they were only glad to get them out of the way.
