JUNIOR SOCCER A HITAll the junior soccer teams participating in the Pilbara Intertown Trophy matches on the weekend of July 9 and 10 at Karratha displayed a high standard of play.The trophies tor under 11 years anduhder 15 years were donated by the Karr-atha Junior Soccer Club in the hope that more competitions could be made for this age group.Teams from PortHedland, Paraburdoo. Wickham and Karratha competed.The under 15 trophy was won by Wickham. With goals by Evans and Anderton of Wickham and two goalsby Greaves of Port Hedland 'A' the game looked like being drawn, but an own goal by Port Hedland gave Wickham the 3-2 victory.The under 11 trophy was won by Karratha 'A' after some excellent games. Karratha ’A' were undefeated throughout the competition played Wickham in the final.I he goalscorers were Mark Ovens and Max Bell of Karratha and S. Kovak of Wickham. Karratha won2 goals to 1After the presentation of the trophies.Mick Hill, the president of the Karratha Junior Soccer Club, thanked the mothers and the committee who helped over the weekend in catering for and looking aher over one hundred boys who were in Karratha tor the competition. He also thanked the participants for making it a very enjoyable weekend.Karratha tops IntersKarratha and Dampier Primary Schools both returned with a shield from the primary school inter-school athletic sports held at Roebourne on Friday, July 8.Karratha Primary School was the outright champion school, winning the Ham-ersley Iron Shield with 311 points.Dampier was runner-up 253 and Roebourne third. 129.Karratha Junior Primary School competed in the junior events for the first time this year as a separate school.Dampier took the Farmers' Stores Shield for the handicap champion school with 353 points, followed by Karratha with 311 and Roebourne, 266.Individual champions were, senior boys. Martin Bond (Karratha Primary School), runner-up, Graeme Heath (Dampier Primary School), senior girls.Tammy Leete (Dampier Primary School), runner-up Joanne Gaffey (Karratha Primary School), intermediate boys.
