THE CALL POST, SATURDAY, JULY 21, 1962 The youngsters from the Glenville 1, Il and Hugh-Nor wood districts staged terrific demonstrations of kite flying at Forest Hills Playground, Durant and E. 123 St., last week. Not far behind were the young kite demonstrators of the Kins man-Portland Outhwaite Dis trict tournament held at the East Tech high football practice field. Mrs. Kathyrn Tyler, director of the Glenville Neighborhood and Community Centers, super vised the Glenville district tour nament, and William Dockens, director of Portland Outhwaite Center, supervised the Kins man-P.O.R.C. district tourney. HUNDREDS OF boys partici pated in the two tournaments, sponsored by the Cleveland Re creation Council. SMALLEST IN AIR: Troy Sing er, 14 years old and Julius LATELL CLARK of 2474 E- 82 Std, recently received the Hamilton Center Symphony Scholarship for outstanding musical ability. Clark is a June, 1962 grad uate of Each Tech and will attend Kent State University this fall. At East Tech, Clark was a member of the choir, the student council, dance band and Hi-Y. ONE CHAMPION--Miles Bonner, 14 years old, 2519 E. 63 St., (left) was selected by the judges as the winner of the Outer Space con test. The other two, Larry Carter 14 years old, 2639 E. 67 St., of Woodridge playground, and Gerald Perry, 14 years old, 2627 E. 61 St., of Outlook playground made a fine presen tation of their kites. Bonner, the champ represented Dike playground. FIRST PLACE WINNERS--The two teen agers won honors at the Sterling Park kite tournament last week. (Reading left) Lothar Graff, 15 years old, 1801 E. 32 St., first in the Highest Flyer contest, and Randall Ash, 14 years old, 2706 Cedar Ave., first in the Most Unusual contest, PROUD YOUNGSTERS--These two young kite entries from the Moses Cleveland play ground in the Alexander Hamilton, John Adams, Woodland district kite tournament weren’t a bit disappointed because they didn’t win a price. HIS IDOL--Ronnie Young, 12 years old of 1423 E. 123 St., (left) is a very happy young sters as he poses with Wilson Graham, East Tech’s outstanding basketball player for the past three years, as he displays his tiny kite. Graham is working as a playground worker for the Board of Education’s summer pro gram.
