Mrs. Masio Bullock was a Columbia visitor last weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Dunham have moved into their new mod mn home on Louisiana Avenue, their former location where their home was burned some time ago. Funeral services were held Sunday evening July 15, at 2 p.m. at the Magee Creek Bap tist church for Mrs. Hazel Ell vey Gatlin, Rev. W. G. Green officiating minister, Washing ton Funeral Services in charge. Interment in church cemetery. She leaves a husband, Mr. Jas per Gatlin two brothers, Mr. Needham Ellzey of New Or leans, Louisiana and Mr. Albert Elizey of Tylertown. Three sis ters Mmes. Polly Magee, Inez Oatis, and Bertha Magee of Ty lertown, and a host of relatives and friends. Mrs. Q. R. Dillon had as guests Monday, Mrs. Allah Jordan, Miss Alma Jones and Mr. Q. R. Dillon of rural Tylertown. Funeral services for Mr. Tom Lewis who died last Saturday evening will be conducted Sun day July 22, owing to the dis dressed in white organdy and carrying a basket of pink car nations. Mr. Charles Caston, brother of the gridegroom serv ed as ring bearer. Mr. Howard Cassidy, best man with Mr. Elim Robinson and Mr. Ralph Sartin ,acting as Ushers. The mother s of the Bride Mrs. Mary Cair choose for the occasion a blue linen dress. Immediately following the ceremony the brides mother entertained with a reception in her home. Mrs. Alice Sartin served as hostess assisted by Mrs. Judy Pickett and Mrs. Bernice McBryde. Vacation Bible School Ends: —St. Paul M. B. Church con lucted its annual vacation Bible School on July 13, 1962. The school, which was sponsored by the Sunday School, Mrs. Nancy S. Walter Superintendent, be gan on July 9, 1962. Each day began at 8:30 A.M. and continued until 11:00 A.M. with a mid-morning break dur ing which the children were served refreshments. On Friday, the children brought lunches and ate picnic style during the break. The school was officially ended Friday night with com mencement. Following the pro gram on Friday night, Rev. L. R. McMillan, pastor, Kynette Methodist Church, gave a very inspiring talk in the form of a sermonette. Mrs. Margaret M. McEwen, Principal. Mrs. Nancy S. Walker, Co. worker. Group leaders for the school were: Mrs. Beulah Hill, Misses Carolyn Benjamin, Patrice Browder, Gladys Benjamin, Vera Price and Mr. Alvin Haw kins with Miss Rose McGregory serving as pianist. The Principal, Co-worker and Group Leaders wish to thank each and everyone for their sup port in making this a successful meeting. SICK AND SHUT INS — Among the sick and shut-in of the community are Mrs. Clau dine Aultman, Mr. Camie Foun tain, Rev. W. A. Britton. Their many friends wish and pray for each a speedy and complete re covery. Mrs. Shirley J. Morris and Mrs. Emma R. McGee and son Ray Narleki McGee, from Phoe nix, Arizona are visiting their mother, Mrs. Bertha C. Bow man, daughter, Shirley, will al so go by Chicago, before going back to Arizona. Mrs. Alene Wilson of Valijo, California, visiting in the home of her sis ter and brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. John Gordon, and other relatives and friends. The Ratliff Chapel M. B. Church celebrated their pastors seventh year anniversary on July 8, 1962, 9:30 a.m. Sunday School, Bro. Walter Anderson Supt, 11:30 a.m. regular serv ices welcome address M. Bracey, responsor, Bro. Henry Thomas, sang by the choir, remarks by the pastor, churches that took port, Friendship, Jackson, Mis sissippi St. Mark. St. Shiloh, The Rev. L. H. Newsome of Jackson, Miss. brought the mes sage, which was enjoyed to all, Finance $185.05, Dinner was served, Mrs. Ethelene Harvey, clerk, Rev. G. L. Lloyd, pastor, The St. Mark M. B. church held their regular services July 8, 1962, 10 a.m. Sunday School. Bro. Amos Richardson Sept. 11:30 a.m. the pastor brought the message taken from 2 Cor. 5: 17 Subject; “The New Cre ators in Christ”. Our souls were made happy. Evening services 7 pm, the pastor brought an other soul stirring message tak en from Luke 10.1 Subject “You Cannot Pass God”, the Lord’s Supper was observed. Money raised $113.26. Mrs. Pearl Duncan of Mc Comb, Mississippi and Mrs. Beatrice Ginn of Tylertown mo tored to Laurel, Mississippi July 16, 1962, and were guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Seals, of Laurel, Mississippi, who are the proud parents of a big bouncing baby boy, David Jr. The Handsome baby boy was showered with gifts from Mrs. L. Todd of Summit, Mississippi, Mrs. Pearl C. Duncan of Mc Comb, Mississippi and Mrs. Beatrice Ginn of Tylertown, Miss. Madames Duncan and Ginn spent a very pleasant and enjoyable day with the Seals. Mrs. Frankie E. Nichols and daughters Loretta of Jackson spent last week with home folks Mr. Nichols, her husband came Saturday night, and they return back home Sunday night. Mr. Dewitt Ginn returned to Old Salem at Ashland, Missis sippi, Sunday afternoon, after ‘spending a couple months vaca tions home. The Beach Ridge Green Sox will play a double header Sun day July 22. The first game will be with Kentwood. Game call, at 1 p.m. 2nd with the Jackson Travelers Tigers.
